The University Language Centre (UCT) offers excellent Dutch courses at various levels. If Dutch is completely new to you, you can choose to join the course Dutch for exchange students, which gives you the opportunity to boost your Dutch language skills while meeting other international students. If you are curious as to what you will learn in this course, you can have a look at this video, which is filled with experiences from international students who took the course over the past few years. UCT guarantees high-quality university language education by experienced teachers using an interactive approach.

At the UCT, you can also take other language courses besides Dutch, such as French or English. Would you like to discover the variety of languages you can learn at the UCT? Have a look at our website www.uct.ugent.be. In addition to learning a new language or improving your practical language skills, you can also enhance your academic language skills at UCT. In this regard, the academic English courses PEAP (B1) or EWAP (B2) could be the right fit for you! At the end of these courses, the students will be able to process and write short academic texts. The lessons are built up around typical structures and common expressions from scientific texts (e.g. describing graphs, objects or experiments). They also present the relevant grammatical items necessary to understand these texts.

Most of our courses start at the beginning of each semester and students can follow the language courses at a reduced fee. Students who are on an exchange within the framework of a bilateral agreement are entitled to a reduction when they register for a Dutch course at the UCT. For some of our Dutch and English courses, ECTS credits can be obtained by certain groups of students, including PhD candidates (when included in their Learning Agreement). Check our website www.uct.ugent.be for more info on prices and schedules. We look forward to welcoming you in one of our language courses soon!
